Etsy Craft Party!

Join us at 7pm on June 20th for the annual Etsy Craft Party! We’re co-hosting with Etsy Team Columbus this year and looking forward to a fun celebration of craftiness!

This year’s Craft Party theme is Community, so we’ve decided to make a project that shows some appreciation to folks (or furry pals) that need it. We’re considering four different types of make-and-donate projects–visit our facebook page to vote for your favorite and we’ll make what the community wants!

Cupcakes, punch, glitter, crafty company and crafting for good–a fun night awaits! RSVP is not necessary, but helpful in knowing how many cupcakes to make. You can RSVP here or here. Hope to see you on the 20th!

Spring Cleaning with the Supply Closet!

When the sun is shining, I feel more productive and a huge project that I’ve been putting off is cleaning out my craft supplies. It’s a chore….but I really need to get rid of all the stuff that I know I’m never going to use. …of course to make room for more craft supplies! I brought them to the Supply Closet where my old supplies will find new homes with folks who can use them. It’s a great way to recycle!

If you’re feeling crafty, the Supply Closet has a fun and ever changing assortment of supplies available by pay-as-you-wish pricing. We have a TON of fabric scraps and I felt inspired by projects I found on Pinterest (www.pinterest.com) to make a colorful and cute wreath from fabric scraps, silk flowers, and a wire wreath ring. Happy Spring Crafting !

Meet Our Teacher Esther Hall!

Meet our teachers at Wholly Craft! Esther Hall is a multi-talented crafter who teaches our Crochet and Needlefelting Classes! For her current class offerings please visit http://www.whollycraft.co/index.php/classes  We asked her a few fun questions….

How did you first learn to Crochet?
My mother taught me to crochet little skirts for my barbie dolls while sitting in my Dad’s office at the Junkyard.

What is Amigurumi Crochet? and what is your favorite Amigurumi creature that you’ve made?
Amigururami is the Japanese word literally meaning “crochet stuffed toy”. I think my favorite to date right now is a Purple Huffalump (elephant).

What advice do you have for beginning crochet students who plan to make gifts?
Start early and remember with anything new it will take some time and practice. Do not get discouraged. It will feel really awkward but so did the first time you rode a bike or learned to swim so just keep at it and find your own groove.

What other artsy or crafty things do you do?
Lot’s of sewing, knitting and recently I’m into Lace Tatting and Crewel Embroidery
